GROOVY HUEY stalked the pace six to seven wide down the backstretch, moved in tandem with ISLE OF SKYE to challenge NEW EVERY MORNING for the lead as they approached the five-sixteenths, got floated five wide into the stretch, disposed of those two rivals in upper stretch then battled with BEDROCK to the wire, getting a head in front in the last jumps. BEDROCK settled behind the early pace battle while being ridden some to maintain position, slipped through a big hole at the top of the stretch and took a short lead passing the three-sixteenths pole, battled gamely with GROOVY HUEY all the way to the wire holding sway until the last jumps. OUR BOLD PRINCE chased from mid-pack to the turn, took advantage of the rail being left open as the leaders drifted wide, got a good run up the rail and finished willingly but was not quite good enough. VICENTE'S SHADOW raced near the back of the pack from the break while three to four wide, made steady forward progress down the backstretch and through the turn while still racing three to four wide, got floated seven wide into the stretch, produced a good rally under steady handling and intermittent urging and just came up a bit short for a minor award despite the wide trip. ISLE OF SKYE broke well then stalked the early pacesetter the turn racing about five to six wide down the backtretch, moved to challenge approaching the five-sixteenths with GROOVY HUEY also making a bid to the outside, was between horses as the three turned for home, flattened out and finished one-paced down the stretch. NEW EVERY MORNING broke well and made the lead without being hustled, had three in close pursuit then attempted to quicken away near the three furlong marker, drifted out to the three path turning into the stretch forcing a pair of rivals out wide, then weakened in mid-stretch. BARE BACK JACK was devoid of early speed, rallied into and through the turn, passed a few late but was otherwise not involved in the outcome. THIRSTY THURSDAY lacked any early speed then struggled to maintain position before the turn, lost ground then had difficulty changing leads in the stretch and was not a threat. DELTA DELTA came away well then steadied when the field bunched up near the five furlong pole, launched a mild rally from the seven-sixteenths pole but could not sustain the bid. SUNRISE JOURNEY hustled from the start then was in an all-out drive to try and wrest the lead from NEW EVERY MORNING, weakened before the stretch and was left with nothing to offer in the stretch. CORN POP broke a beat slow, was under a ride early to keep pace, lost ground near three furlong pole and was not a factor late.
