Chart notes
BET THE CHALK brushed the gate but did not lose a step, stalked two then three wide, bid three deep at the halfway point, dueled outside MINERAL RIGHTS on the far turn, inched ahead at the quarter pole, put away inner rival late on the bend and held well over IN WITHOUT KNOCKIN through the stretch run to the wire. IN WITHOUT KNOCKIN unhurried in the beginning, traveled along the rail then moved to the two path around the clubhouse turn, moved into range in the middle stages outside a rival, gained on the top pair and loomed three wide into the stretch, took aim at the winner down the stretch but lacked the needed late kick while clearly second best. YOUR ROYAL FLYNESS stalked on the rail then in the two path on the first turn, moved back to the fence on the backstretch, steered out on the far turn and came four wide into the lane and kept on to gain third. MINERAL RIGHTS pressed the pace from outside in the four path early, put a head in front at the half-mile pole, dueled inside BET THE CHALK on the far turn before yielding past the quarter pole, then weakened in the drive. MISS PERU showed the way early in the two path while under pressure, dueled on the backstretch and lost command at the half-mile pole, could not keep with the top pair approaching the far turn, lost ground around the bend weakened in the drive.
