Chart notes
SAN SABA dueled for the lead from outside, took over leaving the backstretch, fought between early on the turn, dueled inside MODUS BESTIA past the five-sixteenths pole, cut the corner into the lane, maintained a short lead through the final furlong and held gamely to the line. MODUS BESTIA forwardly placed outside rivals, bid three deep into the turn, dueled outside SAN SABA past the five-sixteenths pole, hounded the winner through the drive but could not summon the needed late kick to go by. VARNEY stalked inside rivals two wide into the turn, drifted in the lane and finished willingly to close the gap on the top pair while holding third. FATHER TED stalked between rivals to the turn, remained between rivals three then four wide on the turn, kept trying down the lane to but lacked the needed late punch. ATTACK NOW chased widest up the backstretch, rounded the bend four then five wide outside rivals, churned on down the stretch but needed to find more. LEAD PIPE JOE dueled from inside, fought inside a pair of rivals early on the turn, yielded at the five-sixteenths pole and faded. WEST IS WEST climbed early and dropped back, trailed on the inside to the stretch and was never a factor.
