Chart notes
DEPARTURE broke well and was in the middle of the early pace scramble, backed out then tracked to the turn, re-bid leaving the five-sixteenths pole, swung five wide into the stretch then wore down the front-running MR. WHO in the final yards. MR. WHO broke well and was widest in a four-way battle for the early lead then got a head in front, vied with MEANT FOR ME and COASTAL KID to the turn, then pulled away at the top of the lane, had a clear lead in deep stretch but was unable to last. BUCK OWENS was slow into stride and trailed down the backstretch, started to run on after passing the three furlong pole, and kept up a steady rally through the stretch to gain the third spot. WELTON broke slowly, settled inside, bided time through the turn, got a clean run into the stretch then tipped out to the three path and finished up well under steady handling and intermittent urging but was outfinished for a minor award. CENTRAL PARK broke well but was not asked for speed, settled four to five wide through the early stages then was set down with three furlongs to run, came five wide into the stretch and ran on but was outfinished in the final furlong. COASTAL KID broke well and pressed the pace from the outset, had some trouble changing leads turning into the stretch and tired. MR NAVIGATOR got a clean start but was unable to contest the early pace, dropped back to mid-pack then launched a bid near the three furlong pole but flattened out in the stretch. EXXEL stumbled at the start then recovered well and raced close to the early pace through the early stages, came under a drive approaching the five-sixteenths pole then could not improve in the stretch. MEANT FOR ME broke well then vied inside of a quartet contesting the early pace, gave way near the quarter pole then had nothing left for the stretch run. LYKAN under a drive from the start, chased three to four wide, went seven wide into the stretch and was unable to improve.
