Chart notes
RAYMOND back off the pace inside, moved out when beginning to advance early in the turn, shifted out widest for the drive, late surge down the middle ot the strip to be edging clear late. ESPIONAGE dueled up front while closest to but not on the rail, larger lead in upper stretch, came out a furlong out then drifted out again late putting EL DIABLO ROJO in tight while unable to match the winner in the final strides. RAM in the second flight outside, moved a bit closer in the four path upper stretch, drifted out to bother a couple of rivals with a furlong to run, went evenly the final sixteenth to finish up best of the rest. MARTINI BLU in the second group while closest to the inside, steered out three wide in a bit of some traffic into the lane, bothered when EL DIABLO ROJO drifted out with a furlong remaining, altered course to the inside, also was going evenly at the end. EL DIABLO ROJO dueled up front outside ESPIONAGE, fell back off that one when straightened for home, drifted out with a furlong to run bothering a pair of outer rivals, maintained position in the second group in the run to the wire, cut off late when ESPIONAGE came out in the waning strides. WORTH LOOKING in the second flight along the inside for a half, had little for the drive. LEMON DROP SHOT last to leave, made little impact outside. KNICKS STORY remained always back while four wide into the stretch. VERB not a factor inside. FOLLOWING A STEWARDS' INQUIRY REGARDING THE RUN THROUGH DEEP STRETCH, ESPIONAGE WAS DISQUALIFIED FROM SECOND AND PLACED FIFTH.
