Chart notes
BENANDONNER steadied slightly going into the clubhouse turn, settled between horses in the tracking group down the backstretch, then moved closer after passing the half, was steered to the three path while launching a bid from the three furlong maker, came four wide into the stretch and produced a grinding finish under steady handling and intermittent urging and was just up in time. COME ON MULITCH drifted out and steadied slightly into the first turn but was able to vie three wide for the early pace, dropped back to a stalking position for a furlong then re-bid for the lead on the turn, drew even with FLATTERMEINCOURT near the five-sixteenths pole and went head to head with that foe for the length of the stretch while exchanging a few bumps along the way, got a head in front in the shadow of the wire but was passed by the winner in the last jump. FLATTERMEINCOURT assumed the lead on the first turn, soon joined by TERRY'S SERVICE in the run down the backstretch then later by COME ON MULITCH on the turn, battled the latter foe, exchanged two or three bumps along the way while drifting out late and came up short. WAR IS HELL got caught four to five wide in the scramble into the first turn, settled three wide in the tracking group down the backstretch, started to advance from the half-mile pole then was put into a drive from the three furlong marker, came up the rail into the stretch and ran on some but was not good enough. TERRY'S SERVICE was able to secure the inside position going into the first turn and was up with the leaders for the first half, began to drop out of it near the three furlong pole and had little to offer in the stretch. BY DECREED six wide into the first turn, was far behind early and was never a threat. FOLLOW MY HEINEKEN raced at the rear of the second flight then struggled to keep up after going a half-mile and was not a factor in the late stages. SLEW CITY TIZ five wide into the first turn dropped far behind and had only BY DECREED beaten after a half-mile, was shortly passed by that one and chased the rest to the wire.
