Chart notes
OUR LIBERTY BELLE broke very alertly and went straight to the front, moved in then showed the way with a clear advantage, dictated terms in the two path on the turn, responded well when set down into upper stretch, drew off under a strong hand-ride into the final furlong, was given two pops of a right-handed crop between the eighth-pole and the sixteenth-pole then was placed back under a hand-ride while much the best. TONED UP was well placed down the backstretch, chased inside on the turn, moved to the two path coming to the quarter-pole, pursued the winner in the stretch and proved no match while just able to hold the place. WHISTLER'S STYLE dropped back after the start then lagged at the rear, saved ground on the turn, moved out in upper stretch, drifted out under a left-handed crop outside the sixteenth-pole then was placed under a strong hand-ride and just missed the place while clear for the show. KISS ME HARDY tracked then chased the pace on the outside, went around the turn in the three path and weakened. PATTY CAKES hit the outside of the gate then stumbled and was off a step slow, was coaxed along on the outside, came under stronger encouragement in the four path on the turn, drifted in near the furlong marker and failed to respond.
