DAMAZIO stalked in the two path, coaxed along between rivals into the far turn, lacked room at the five-sixteenths pole, gained a clear path with a quarter mile remaining, angled out at the top of the lane, bid three deep and dug in to edge inner rivals. BE PUNCTUAL vied between rivals then cleared past the five-eighths pole, led along the rail into the lane, drifted out when challenged by SMOKEM EZ and DAMAZIO, lost command approaching the sixteenth and finished gamely while brushing with SMOKEM EZ near the wire. SMOKEM EZ stalked in the four path around the first turn, drew closer on the backstretch and moved inward, tipped two wide at the quarter pole, challenged BE PUNCTUAL in upper stretch, got floated out by that rival but continued to battled between foes late and got outkicked while brushing with BE PUNCTUAL near the wire. PETESOLDFASHIONED stalked inside, got shuffled back at the seven-sixteenths pole, tipped out to the three path, drifted inward in the lane and improved position. BATTLE CRUISER settled in the three path, bumped into the far turn, gained while staying off the inside but flattened down the lane. SPIRITIST settled four wide then outside a rival on the clubhouse turn, chased five then four deep on the second bend and needed to find more in the stretch run. LURKING FEAR vied inside a pair of rivals early, chased up the backstretch, faded around the far turn and had little left for the drive. RUNNING TIGER vied six wide into the first turn then moved into the four path outside a pair of rivals, chased three deep in the middle stages, ridden along on the far turn and faded. NOTCH coaxed from the gate then paused between rivals shortly after, trailed five wide into the first turn then moved into the three path, spun four wide into the lane and never got involved. TRAVEL THE MAP chased five then four wide, continued four deep leaving the backstretch, bumped with inner rival into the far turn, dropped back around the bend and tired. THERE WAS A STEWARDS' INQUIRY INVOLVING THE STRETCH RUN. FOLLOWING A REVIEW, THE STEWARDS RULED IN A MAJORITY DECISION TO DISQUALIFY BE PUNCTUAL FROM SECOND TO THIRD FOR DRIFTING OUT AND CAUSING INTERFERENCE TO SMOKEM EZ IN THE STRETCH, COSTING THAT RIVAL A CHANCE AT A BETTER PLACING.
