Chart notes
EL DE LARRY stalked the pace, advanced outside RUNNING RIVER to secure command turning for home and drew out under brisk urging. RUNNING RIVER , clear soon after the start, set the pace slightly off the rail, lost the lead entering the stretch, faded and held the place. GAMBLING TZAR lacked speed, circled foes four wide on the turn, was fanned to the six path turning for home and rallied outside rivals. HE'S ON FIRE , four wide on the turn, drifted in a bit near the eighth pole then shut off CAPTAIN CARDO when drifting in approaching the finish. CAPTAIN CARDO remained along the inner rail throughout and was checked when impeded approaching the wire. SOUTHERN DISTRICT bore in bumping FORMAL ORDER leaving the starting gate, failed to be a factor and was fanned five wide turning for home. IMPETUD had a mild move in the two path entering the stretch then weakened. FORMAL ORDER , bumped at the start, was outrun. OXIDE stayed along the inner rail and retreated. Following a stewards' inquiry and an objection by the rider of CAPTAIN CARDO, HE'S ON FIRE was disqualified and placed fifth.
