Chart notes
GRAMMY GIRL was well placed towards the front then chased late on the backstretch, moved from the three path to the five path on the turn, pursued the leading while outside into the final furlong, gained into the final sixteenth and went by the embattled duo to prevail. PATTY VAN TWINKLE broke out at the start, tracked the pace on the outside, made a bid at the seven-sixteenths pole, vied in the five then four path on the turn, dueled with THE BIG CALHOUNA in the stretch and got the best of that foe for the place but was overtaken by the winner. THE BIG CALHOUNA moved up under urging to get the lead then set the pace under pressure to her outside, vied in the three then two path on the turn, dueled with the runner-up in the stretch and was also overtaken by the winner then just missed the place while clear for the show. SPLASHY showed speed then pressed the pace on the outside, vied in the four then three path on the turn, dropped back near the quarter-pole and weakened. LOOKS FIRST was taken in hand and dropped back in tight quarters entering the main-track, saved ground at the rear, shifted to the three path outside the quarter-pole and failed to threaten. THIRTEEN RED FLAGS was coaxed along off the pace, dropped back under stronger encouragement near the seven-sixteenths pole, moved from the rail to the two path on the turn, spun into the stretch in the three path and came up empty. ROMAN GODDESS was ridden along off the pace, raced in the four path for the first half of the turn, dropped briefly to the three path then went back to the four path near the five-sixteenths pole, floated to the five path shortly thereafter and failed to respond. DESPO'S DREAM was urged along towards the rear, rounded the turn in the two path and was no factor.
