Chart notes
KING PHOENIX angled in quickly while going to the front then showed the way, extended the advantage along the rail on the turn, drew off in upper stretch, was given two pops of a right-handed crop nearing the furlong marker and proved much the best under a solid hand-ride from that point to the finish. MONTE AVI dropped well back while urged along, saved ground on the turn, turned into upper stretch under a drive and finished with late energy to safely secure the place. GOODBYE broke in at the start, chased the pace on the outside then in the three path on the turn, remained on his inside lead in the stretch and tired while best of the rest. CADA DIA MEJOR moved off the rail under coaxing early, was taken in hand near the five-eighths pole, came under urging before the nine-sixteenths pole, traveled around the turn in the three then four path and came up empty. MARVELOUS RICHARD was carried in while showing speed on the inside of a rival then taken up outside the five-eighths pole, chased the leader into the turn, dropped back in the two path on that bend, moved to the three path outside the quarter-pole and capitulated. FRONTAL VISION broke awkwardly and was off a bit slow, raced on the outside under urging, went around the turn in the three to four path, turned into the stretch in the six path and was no factor.
