Chart notes
COLONEL YORKE raced mid-pack while saving all the ground to the far turn, swing three wide into the stretch and produced a strong rally under steady handling to get up in time. CANYON STREAK settled mid-pack for the first half mile, idled behind horses through the turn then split horses at the top of the stretch to take a share of the lead with WON MORE TIME, battled that foe to mid-stretch, gained the advantage then could not hold off the fast closing winner in the final yards. WON MORE TIME alternately led and dueled with LAST AFFAIR through moderate fractions to the far turn, kicked on from the quarter pole and dueled with CANYON STREAK into the stretch, gave way late but held third. ECHO MARINE lagged near the rear of the main pack, launched a bid with three furlongs to run that ran out of steam with a furlong to run. HEATS HERO was held up four wide mid-pack, loomed a threat approaching the quarter pole, went five wide into the stretch and went flat. NOTIME FORMISCHIEF was the distant trailer to the far turn and passed tiring rivals in the lane. LAST AFFAIR had good speed from the outside post and was guided to the front into the first turn, pulled to the lead turning on to the backstretch, shadowed to the inside by WON MORE TIME, exchanged leads with that rival through the turn, then came five wide into the stretch and stopped. SPIDERS REVENGE was a bit keen coming out of the gate and was steered five wide into the clear into the first turn, advanced down the backstretch and was within a length of the lead approaching the half-mile pole then started to lose position, dropped to last and was not a factor after that point.
