COST BASIS broke with the leaders, vied up front between horses up the backstretch, dueled turn closest to but not on the inside, shook clear upper stretch and maintained daylight to the wire under steady handling. DR. SOULFIRE back off the pace and the inside, in some traffic when moving closer late in the turn, came four wide for the drive, finished willingly while well out in the strip to be closing the gap on the winner while clear for the place. METALLIC MAN in the second flight while saving ground, moved out a bit for the drive, closest to the winner inside the furlong marker, outkicked for the second spot. LARRY'S LEGEND with the early pace outside, three wide into the turn, dueled outside the winner through the bend, weakened. WORTH LOOKING behind the pace off the inside, four wide turning for home, lacked a closing response. WET AND WILD flashed early speed while along the inside, could not keep up with the dueling leaders turn, continued to weaken down the lane. BURNING LEAVES in tight and off slowly, continued to lag well back, two to three wide into the lane, improved position with some belated interest. BLOW TORCH broke back, failed to menace while gradually steering toward the inside through the turn. DERBY DATE four to five wide through the turn, remained always back. SUPER BRADY saved ground to no avail. WARP RIDE tired while four wide much of the way.
