Chart notes
SHADY APPEAL vied three deep on the backstretch, confidently handled still three wide on the turn, carried a short lead turning into the lane, inched ahead in upper stretch, put ZOMBO BOMBO away midstretch and held gamely while brushing with MONGOLIAN ALTAI late. MONGOLIAN ALTAI showed brief speed then chased the top trio up the backstretch, coaxed along two then three wide around the bend, latched onto the winner past the eighth pole, tried to wear down the winner while brushing late but got denied. ZOMBO BOMBO fought for command between rivals up the backstretch and around the turn, dueled inside SHADY APPEAL entering the lane, fought to midstretch and weakened in the final sixteenth. VALENTINES CANDY raced up close from inside then dropped back just out of range on the backstretch, chased on the inside then two wide on the turn, angled out and lacked further response. ENOUGH ALREADY trailed off the rail in the early going, took the turn three then four wide, drifted out in upper stretch and weakened. TROTSKY chased briefly then was hustled forward between rivals to challenge for the lead, vied for command inside a pair of rivals to the quarter pole, could not keep up with outer pair late on the bend and gave way down the lane.
