SERPICO R S S hustled to vie for the early lead, engaged HYNSON into the turn and dueled outside of that rival nearing the quarter marker, shook free into upper stretch then kicked clear at the furlong pole, kept to task while clear into the final sixteenth then held safely over the oncoming runner-up. HIT BTWEEN THE ICE chased the early pace five wide to the turn, ran in pursuit four wide nearing the quarter marker, rallied into the stretch, finished well and was a clear second best. HYNSON broke alertly, showed good early speed and dueled for pace duties into the turn, was outkicked into the stretch, chased SERPICO R S S into the final sixteenth, yielded to the top pair in deep stretch and just held for the show at the wire. SHELL GAME contested the early pace from inside of runners, chased while saving ground nearing the quarter pole, tipped three wide for the stretch drive, weakened in the late stages and was outfinished for the show. MS FERRARI DIABLO prominent away from the start, was caught in tight entering the turn and checked at the seven-sixteenths, ran in pursuit while between runners along the turn, shifted to the rail into upper stretch then lacked the needed late response in deep stretch. ATTILAS TORNADO lost his path at the start and was off a bit slowly, lacked early speed while saving ground into the turn, showed good late interest but could not impact the leaders late. NOREASON FORDIAMONDS bobbled at the start and was off slowly, chased outside of rivals along the turn, ran in pursuit five to six wide into upper stretch, made a mild late gain but did not threaten in deep stretch. AL SIETE D COPAS sat back on the flipping halter at the start and broke slowly, spotted the field to begin, chased from the two path into upper stretch and did not factor in the drive. THE STEWARDS CONDUCTED AN INQUIRY INTO THE START INVOLVING AL SIETE D COPAS AND DETERMINED THAT RUNNER SAT BACK ON THE FLIPPING HALTER AT THE START AND CAUSED HIS OWN ISSUES LEAVING THE GATE.
