Chart notes
KADESH raced in tight quarters through the first turn to be held up off heels through the bend while rank fighting rider restraint, moved up the open hole on the inside down the backstretch to engage the leader through the final turn, kicked away in upper stretch and pulled clear through the lane convincingly. SMASH exchanged bumps with inside rival away from the gate, raced up to set the pace into the first turn, set the pace under steady pressure from three wide to the quarter pole, could not go with the winner in the lane and finished willingly as a clear second best. PEPPER PIKE broke outward to exchange bumps with the runner-up leaving the gate, dropped to the rear of the field to trail through the first turn, remained unhurried down the backstretch and mounted a steady non-threateneing rally to gain the show. BOURBON WISDOM pressed the pace from four wide for a half mile and steadily faded on the far turn. STRIKE APPEAL trailed most of the way and failed to respond when called upon entering the final bend.
