Chart notes
BISHOPS BAY broke outward but alertly, set an unpressured soft early pace in the two path, picked up the tempo far turn, shook off his nearest pursuer turning for home, drifted out with a furlong to run, dug in when challenged soon after, narrowly prevailed in determined fashion. BENDOOG settled off the early pace toward the inside, began to advance midway on the final turn, angled out to be five wide into the lane, sharply altered course behind the drifting winner just inside the furlong marker, challenged and appeared to gain a brief advantage then was outkicked in the late going. FULL SCREEN in the second flight while just off the inside, within striking distance second turn while in the two path, tipped out four wide in some traffic entering the stretch while inside the runner up, went evenly the final furlong while unable to keep up with the top two. LIBERAL ARTS void of speed off the inside, rank, slow to settle first turn, remained back, dropped to the inside late in the second turn, improved position without posing a serious threat. MAYCOCKS BAY pressed the winner from the outside, continued to prompt in the three path through the final turn, had little left for the stretch run. MAGIC TAP behind the pace while along the inside, remained in the second flight through the stretch turn within striking distance, lacked closing kick. HONOR MARIE in mid pack while racing outside, four wide second turn, failed to rally. BLACK POWDER off a step slow, raced back and three wide, not a threat. QUALITY CHIC bothered a bit at the break when the winner broke out, remained always back toward the inside.
