Chart notes
CHARGER stalked the pace three wide into the stretch, responded under left then right handed urging with a burst of speed late and got up in the final strides while four wide. MONTEREY PENINSULA gained a slim lead between horses two wide soon after the start, shook clear on the turn, widened into the stretch while drifting to the rail, maintained the advantage past the sixteenth pole, drifted out to the four path under left handed urging then couldn't hold off the winner. SCRATCHOFF pressed the early pace along the inside, steadied momentarily at the three furlong marker, angled outside the leader on the turn then came on again later three wide. JARETH allowed to settle, began to rally in the two path through mid stretch, ran up on the drifting leaders heels inside the sixteenth pole, dropped to the rail and was steadily gaining ground in the final yards. KOSCIUSZKO settled four wide and failed to respond. NOSEY POWER was no threat. THE RIDER OF SCRATCHOFF LODGED A CLAIM OF FOUL AGAINST THE RIDER OF MONTEREY PENINSULA FOR ALLEGED INTERFERENCE AT THE THREE EIGHTHS POLE, ALSO THE RIDER OF JARETH LODGED A CLAIM OF FOUL AGAINST THE RIDER OF MONTEREY PENINSULA FOR ALLEGED INTERFERENCE IN DEEP STRETCH. AFTER REVIEW THE STEWARDS UPHELD THE ORIGINAL ORDER OF FINISH.
