JOE DON LOONEY was nudged up to the inside of rivals and poked a head in front after about a furlong, set a pressured pace towards the inside, shook clear soon into the lane, kept on under solid handling leaving mid stretch, thwarted an inner threat from ITSALLGOODMAN leaving the sixteenth pole and proved resolute to the wire. ITSALLGOODMAN , taken to rate early, dropped inside leaving the far turn and commenced a run, made steady progress under a ride into the lane, moved up and bid inside the winner with a sixteenth to go, was denied by that one but stayed willingly and saved the place. ULTIMATE had speed three deep, chased the embattled leaders four wide past the five sixteenths, remained on his left lead through the drive and made a steady grinding run to gain outside the top pair. EXXEL rated in the clear nearing the half, circled five wide into the stretch, got off his left lead in the final yards and churned on. BUCK OWENS broke a step slow, saved ground off the pace, remained inside for the drive and offered belated action while not threatening. WELTON contested the early pace between foes, pressed two to three wide outside the winner from the far turn, failed to go on leaving mid stretch and weakened. MACCHIATO D'ORO , sluggish away, raced well back into and around the turn, raced three to four wide in upper stretch and failed to respond.
