Chart notes
BROWNSTONE stalked in the two path into the first turn, moved to the rail then angled out to the three path around the bend, bid four deep leaving the backstretch, lost touch with the leader around the turn, then challenged again from outside approaching the stretch, drifted out in upper stretch, dueling with FOR A LAUGH (IRE), bumped with that rival at the sixteenth and dug in gamely for the victory. FOR A LAUGH (IRE) raced up close three then two wide between rivals on the first turn, stalked the new leader early on the backstretch, challenged between rivals at the seven-sixteenths pole, quickly took over, cleared for a bit past the three-eighths marker, challenged again by BROWNSTONE nearing the stretch, dueled into the final furlong, drifted out and made contact at the sixteenth pole and was outgamed in the end. ACCIDENTAL GENIUS trailed from inside through both turns, steered out into the lane and gained the show honors. DE LA LUNA stalked briefly in the two path then tipped out and took over three deep late on the first turn, cleared early on the backstretch, took pressure at the halfway point, held a short lead over a pair of rivals leaving the backstretch, lost command early on the far turn, started to weaken around the bend and tired down the lane. FURTHER EVIDENCE showed early speed along the inside, jumped the track around the first turn and lost command, stalked for a bit then moved up to apply pressure at the half-mile pole, dropped back around the far turn and had little left for the drive. THERE WAS A STEWARDS' INQUIRY INVOLVING THE STRETCH RUN AND RULED THAT FOR A LAUGH (IRE) DRIFTED OUT AND INITIATED THE CONTACT WITH BROWNSTONE AND THERE WOULD BE NO CHANGE.
