Chart notes
GOAL ORIENTED unhurried in the beginning, climbed at the back and angled out into the clear, gained five, four, then three wide on the turn, drew alongside the top pair with a furlong remaining, kicked clear midstretch and won going away. TRAIN THE TRAINER away quickly, dueled from outside up the backstretch and around the turn, took over past the quarter pole, carried a short lead into the final furlong, could not offer any resistance to the winner in midstretch and stayed on to hold second. SIERRA SILVER chased briefly then went up to grab the lead from inside, dueled with TRAIN THE TRAINER up the backstretch and around the turn, relinquished the lead past the quarter pole, fought on to midstretch and weakened in the last sixteenth. VARNEY tracked off the inside, went three deep into the turn in the four path, chased two wide into the lane and flattened out. CONCORD BRIDGE tracked between rivals then moved inside, angled to the three path then came back to the rail around the bend, steered out in the lane and weakened. DAY AND AGE chased from off the pace, started to climb when hit with the kickback, went three, four, then two wide around the bend and failed to menace. PACIFIC QUEST was a bit fractious in the gate, showed early speed then chased the top pair up the backstretch, was forced to check between rivals at the three-eighths pole, dropped back around the bend and had little left for the stretch run.
