Chart notes
CANDY'S CHROME broke a step slow, tucked inside at the back, stayed along the fence to the far turn, swung out at the quarter pole, came four wide into the stretch, collared the top pair at the eighth pole, took over midway through the lane and drove clear in the final sixteenth. BORDER VIGIL raced up close three deep then pressed the pace pace, lost touch with the leader for a bit at the half-mile pole, re-bid leaving the backstretch, dueled around the far turn, carried a short lead into the stretch, resisted to the eighth pole, lost command in midstretch, yielded to the winner in the final sixteenth and held second. DRIVE TRAIN traveled in the two path off the pace then raced outside a rival at the back, went three deep into the far turn, trailed five wide into the lane, rallied between runners and got up for third. JULLIAN IN PARIS broke a step slow, steered to the rail sitting off the pace, traveled between foes on the backstretch, came four wide into the stretch, moved out further in the lane, finished well but got edged for the show honors. THE RONALD broke a step slow, chased three then four deep on the clubhouse turn, ridden along three deep on the second bend, lacked room behind the leader at the eighth pole, then flattened late once in the clear. PURE CANE SUGAR raced in range two then three wide, ran up on heels into the backstretch, angled to the two path, got carried wide past the quarter pole and could not rally. HOT LEGS ROMOLO sprinted to the front from inside, showed the way under pressure then cleared briefly at the midway point, was confronted from outside again at the seven-sixteenths pole, dueled around the far turn, lost command approaching the stretch, fought to midstretch and weakened in the final sixteenth. RENEW chased from inside, hugged the rail to the stretch and weakened. DESERT BREEZE broke out but was quickly corrected, forwardly placed in the two path early, pressed between into the backstretch then stalked up the backstretch, chased two wide around the far turn and weakened.
