Chart notes
WATSONVILLE RED was reserved tucking in at the rear, moved out and advanced outside foes four wide leaving the backstretch, still had much to do in the lane, kept on and surged past in the final strides. TRIP ACES contested the very early pace before taking command and moving clear to dictate terms up the backstretch, was joined by another rival leaving the far turn and asked for more, dueled inside that rival, fought on gamely to win that battle but ultimately lose to the late-rallying winner. SPECIAL SESSION settled off the pace three to four wide, advanced on the far turn, joined the leader putting a short head in front at the top of the stretch, dueled through the lane, was outfinished. RIDEAU HALL bobbled at the start, was in just a bit tight soon after shuffling back, settled off the inside in the two to three path, made a mild advance three wide between foes past the seven-sixteenths, chased mid-pack through the remainder of the far turn, lacked the needed late kick. GUN FIRE was urged forward from the start, contested the early pace pressing briefly, continued to chase up the backstretch from just off the fence, weakened. NYCELY got away well, settled in just off to stalk the leader, was up close three wide between foes into the far turn but started to weaken, checked sharply between runners past the three-eighths, was not persevered with thereafter. FOLLOWING A STEWARDS' INQUIRY REGARDING #3 RIDEAU HALL AND #5 WATSONVILLE RED AROUND THE THREE FURLONG POLE RESULTED IN NO ACTION WAS TAKEN.
