Chart notes
YIPPEE KI YAY chased the pace past the quarter pole, rallied two wide to make the lead nearing the top of the stretch, shook clear under right handed urging and lasted under strong handling. GIFT OF OAK allowed to settle, rallied in the four path through the stretch, altered course outside the winner to the six path approximately forty yards from the wire and was steadily gaining ground. SPIRIT OF AKRON settled three wide, drifted to the five path entering the stretch and finished evenly. ROYAL'D made the lead at the five furlongs marker, set the pace for a little over a half mile, kept on into the stretch and weakened late. ANIMO ROBERTO failed to menace. SPIN DOCTOR reared as the gate opened unseating his rider. THE STEWARDS POSTED THE INQUIRY SIGN AND THE RIDER OF GIFT OF OAK LODGED A CLAIM OF FOUL AGAINST THE RIDER OF THE WINNER FOR ALLEGED INTERFERENCE IN DEEP STRETCH. AFTER REVIEW THE STEWARDS UPHELD THE ORIGINAL ORDER OF FINISH.
