WINNING PATRIOT forwardly placed three deep early, was closest in pursuit from the two path on the far turn, challenged the leader with a furlong remaining, led into the final fifty yards and was able to hold on. FIGHT BACK trailed on the inside, had to pause behind a rival early on the backstretch, went between foes after, rounded the second bend in the two path, dove to the inside in upper stretch, rallied up the rail and just missed. ZAGREUS controlled the pace along the inside, showed the way unchallenged to the top of the lane, came under threat from WINNING PATRIOT at the eighth pole, resisted into deep stretch and yielded grudgingly. KEEP DANCIN NICK race up close in the two path, stalked inside leaving the backstretch, cut the corner into the lane, lacked room to rally at the sixteenth pole and kept trying between foes late. SOGNO DI VINO bobbled leaving the gate, tracked from the two path, angled three then four wide on the far turn, launched a bid in the stretch but could not summon the needed late kick. SHAPOVAL settled off the pace three then two wide, traveled between runners leaving the backstretch, driven two wide into the lane, angled out and bumped SOGNO DI VINO in upper stretch and finished willingly to the line. HIGH KING raced in range from the four path early, went three deep into the far turn, spun five wide off that bend and lacked further response. IRISH ELEMENT settled along the fence, moved into range on the backstretch, lost ground on the far turn and could not rally. FLEET BROTATO chased from off the pace in the three path, asked three deep on the far turn and failed to rally. SMOOTHWHSKYGOINDWN settled in the two path, lacked room and checked around the first turn, raced near the back on the inside in the middle stages, saved ground to the lane, moved out and lacked a rally. MAXVILLE raced outside ROYAL VANGUARD at the back into the first turn, got bumped and forced out by that rival early on the bend, went three deep into the second bend, stayed off the rail to the stretch and had little left for the drive. ROYAL VANGUARD was hard to ride shortly after the start, lugged out and bumped MAXVILLE early on the clubhouse turn, pulled into and up the backstretch, trailed into the far turn and was never a factor.
