Chart notes
GOLDEN SERENADE saved ground while being reserved off the pace, came two-wide into the stretch and finished fast to be up in the final sixteenth. FLY BY JOHN broke out then was unhurried, rallied four-wide into the stretch, angled in for room nearing the eighth pole then drifted out nearing the sixteenth pole and closed strongly. LUCKY'S SNIPER vied for the lead with COUSIN THEO from along the outside, responded when asked and held on well for third. GRAN SENOR DEL ORO bobbled at the start then was allowed to settle, moved up four-wide nearing the quarter pole but lacked the needed late response. CHELAN SUMMER tracked the pace while racing three-wide and weakened in the late stages. COUSIN THEO saved ground vying for the early lead with LUCKY'S SNIPER and tired. THE STEWARDS CONDUCTED AN INQUIRY INTO THE ACTIONS OF FLY BY JOHN, BUT AFTER VIEWING THE FILMS MADE NO CHANGE IN THE ORDER OF FINISH,.
