Chart notes
CARIBBEAN KING raced near the back in the early going, took the turn two to three wide, headed WESTERN AVENUE at the eighth pole, cleared midstretch under strong handling and was kept busy to the wire. INVINCIBLE sat off the pace in the opening stages, gained from the rail then went through a tight spot between rivals approaching the eighth pole, angled out in the lane and finished willingly for second. BARSABAS unhurried in the early going, trailed on the inside, tipped two wide late on the bend, steered out in upper stretch, finished well from outside but was lacked the needed final kick. WESTERN AVENUE stalked up the backstretch, bid two wide at the five-sixteenths pole, fought on even terms entering the lane, took over in upper stretch, yielded to the winner midstretch and flattened to fourth. KNOWN IDEA dueled briefly then cleared inner rival, showed the way to the far turn, challenged by outer rival at the five-sixteenths pole, yielded in upper stretch and tired. MEEKING dueled inside KNOWN IDEA for a bit then chased up the backstretch, weakened around the turn and tired.
