DOUG'S HERO was allowed to settle off the pace while three wide, was asked to quicken in the final turn, swept the lead midstretch and inched clear. ALBERTA BERBON saved ground while showing the way, was showing signs of tiring early stretch, and gave way grudgingly. CAPE'S LEGACY sat just off the pace, was roused at the quarter pole and lacked the rally needed.
