Chart notes
PURPLE OCTOPUS stalked inside, bid from the rail turning into the lane, took the lead passing the furlong grounds and drew clear. MISTER SHARPIE dueled for the lead in the three path, bumped with an inner foe and floated out to the five path at the top of the stretch, was no match for the winner in the final furlong, but kept on to edge out place. SMART JOKER vied for the lead in the two path, bumped with an outer foe while in the three path at the top of the lane, and evened out in the final furlong. CITY OF CLOUDS raced off the pace in the four path early and never threatened. OSCAR NOMINEE chased in the three path but retreated.
