TOUCH THE SUN away alertly and tracked the pacesetter one out from the rail entering the stretch the first time, continued to track the leader while turning up the pressure in the run down the backside, rallied two wide through the final turn, began to get the better of the pacesetter leaving the final turn, maintained his lead into the lane while laying in slightly, and held the closers at bay late to prevail. SNAP TO IT tracked the leader three wide through the stretch the first time, maintained his position while gaining ground on the pacesetter in the run down the backstretch, rallied three wide through the final turn, and closed willingly two out from the rail in the drive. EVANDERKEEN unhurried early while dropping back to trail, launched his bid two wide entering the final turn, and closed best of all late while lacking room approaching the wire. DEAL EM broke sharply and raced to the lead from along the rail entering the first turn, controlled the pace through the second turn and in the run down the backside, rallied along the rail entering the final turn, was overtaken leaving the turn, steadied slightly soon after straightening for home, and finished from along the rail in tight quarters late. NEWHART away well and stalked the leader from along the rail through the stretch the first time, continued to save ground from a striking position in the run down the backstretch, rallied along the inside entering the final turn, but weakened over the final furlong. Following the running of this race there was both a jockey's inquiry, as well as a steward's inquiry into the stretch run. the rider of EVANDERKEEN lodged a claim of foul against the riders of both SNAP TO IT and TOUCH THE SUN. After review the jockey's claim of foul was disallowed, but in regard's to the steward's inquiry TOUCH THE SUN was disquallified from first and placed fourth for causing interference to DEAL EM in the stretch drive.
