Chart notes
ROMANTICA stalked from outside two to three wide off the leaders and outside a foe, went three to four wide on the far turn beginning to advance, was encouraged along by the quarter pole, struck the lead about the three-sixteenths, moved clear by the furlong grounds and won going away despite drifting out a bit. MY GIRL DELLA was coaxed forward to be prominent into the first turn, ceded the lead settling off the leader inside but switching out, advanced willingly two to three wide on the far turn, reached nearly even terms commencing a bid coming to the quarter pole, was put to urging, was in contention in upper- to mid-stretch, could not kick on with the winner but secured the place. READY TO BATTLE contested the early pace then moved clear by the three-quarters, shifted in a bit and set the pace nearer inside and in the clear up the backstretch, was challenged coming past the five-sixteenths, vied till mid-stretch, was no match for the top one and could not kick on with the runner-up but just saved show. SPEAK UP tracked from inside, came out six wide in the stretch, ran on late but missed show honors. SHADE OF PALE settled outside off the pace racing two to three wide through the turns, swung six wide turning into upper stretch, drifted out a bit under left-handed encouragement near mid-stretch, ran on. NANTUCKETS DAY settled at the rear, saved some ground inside, swung six wide turning for home, failed to menace.
