Chart notes
CHICO CHARLIE took command shortly from the gate, set a well rated, well measured pace under steady pressure, repelled the bid of CLASSIC KING on the far turn to retain the lead turning for home, was engaged by the runner-up in mid-stretch and fended that one off for the final eighth in a game effort. SECRETARY OF WAR was well placed racing along the fence just off the pace down the backside, came under stout restraint to be kept off heels for a sixteenth of a mile to the far turn, angled three wide on the bend to the clear and dueled the winner through the lane but failed to get passed. CLASSIC KING prompted the pace to be lapped on the winner for the run down the backside, rallied on the bend to threaten, could not get passed the winner and ran-on willingly through the lane to be best of the rest. CITY LEADER trailed in early going and rallied passed weaker without impact. NEW BERN stalked the pace from four wide to the far turn, failed to respond when called upon on the turn and faded. THENAME OF THEGAME broke well, was taken in hand, raced five wide into the first turn, angled in turning down the backstretch and was through early.
