Chart notes
FLYING BLACK had rail position in the middle of the pack, was shuffled back slightly entering the backstretch, moved up smartly on the fence by the half, mounted a rally angling off the embattled duo three wide at the quarter pole, pounced four wide at the top of the stretch, switched lead taking control at the eighth pole and comfortably held of rivals for the win at the wire. MIZZEN ASH stalked at the back going four wide outside foes on the first turn, remaining ahead of only one runner down the backside, started to close the gap inside horses by the half, had a quick turn of foot a quarter mile from the finish line, shifted out four wide following the winner in upper stretch, ran on to the end but could not match strides with the winner late and ended up a clear second crossing the finish line. THAT GIRL ARTEMUS was reserved at the rear in the early stages, started to commence a run reaching for more ground when shifting out at the two furlong marker, swung out widest in the six path finding her best stride late and closed in to capture third money coming up to the finish line. SHE MAKES A POINT was brushed outside to begin, opened up on the field in hand around the first of two turns, had a diminishing advantage at the half inside, was scrubbed on for more clinging onto the lead on the fence in upper stretch, could not hold off the closing in rivals late and faded inside foes at the furlong pole to settle for a minor role in the end. STREGA was content to track behind the early speed foe on the initial turn, edged closer down the backstretch, dueled between horses with a quarter mile from home, still was in the thick of things in the two path between foes at the top of the lane, could not kick on with others late and wilted in the last furlong. KATHERINE'S GEM broke in on the start, rated kindly in midfield outside in the first turn, sat alone watching the top two runners down the backside, tracked in the second pairing on the outside through the final bend, was pushed out going the wrong way three wide by the quarter pole, angled to the five path for the stretch run but had little presence driving to the wire between horses. HAY HAY PAULA travelled three wide on the first turn near the back of the pack, made little progression outside rivals along the backside, was asked for more in the two path around turn, had little left to offer and backed away by the quarter pole.
