WINSTON BLUE tracked the frontrunner on the outside down the backstretch, moved in three wide at the three-furlong marker prompting the pace, bid four wide for the lead outside rivals turning for home and relentlessly wore down the leader in the last few jumps for the victory. U S ARMY CORPS cleared from the outer post for the lead by the half under a good hold, continued up top setting an even tempo having a narrow advantage with challengers closing in from either side at the quarter pole, was let out a notch three wide between horses in upper stretch clinging onto the lead with a furlong from home but could not fend off the winner late and was caught in the shadow of the wire for the win. MIDNIGHT ARKLE settled in midfield in the two path in the early going, travelled inside rivals while roused keeping up to the lead group through the turn looking for room, found a seam in the three path with a sixteenth from the wire three wide and with a late surge got up to capture the show money in deep stretch. COMMANDER AT SEA travelled three deep keeping a close eye on the lead trio from the outside, crept closer four wide to be in the conversation at the quarter pole, angled to the five path in the hunt at the top of the lane but evened out at the furlong marker to settle for a minor placing in the end. DANCIN' DEPUTY drafted behind the pacesetter along the backside, edged up having room on the fence at the three eighths pole to pressure the leader midturn, scraped paint to be in the thick of things at the top of the stretch, could not match strides with the front duo by the eighth pole and weakened further while inside runners in the final sixteenth of a mile. LIFE IS HARD travelled five deep outside rivals in the middle of the pack down the back straight, continued an overland journey trying to circle around runners five wide midway around the oval, shifted out in the six path having a chance outside for a piece of the prize but could not continue on late and stalled by the sixteenth pole. CELENTANO stalked four path near the rear along the backside, was checked slightly at the seven sixteenths pole, could see the field around the turn and lacked a rally outside horses down the stretch. TODAY settled near the rear in the three path between rivals along the backside, came under a ride four wide with runners on both sides keeping pace through the bend and could not offer a finish four wide running to the wire. ROOKIE RADAR tossed his head trailing on the start, moved up inside rivals to be in mid-pack by the half, could not hold position on the fence causing him to check sharply at the three furlong marker, co-trailed midway on the turn and was not a factor inside horses down the stretch.
