Chart notes
BLITZ broke outwards on the start, set a soft pace unchallenged on the front into the first turn, dictated an even tempo rating kindly in control along the backside, was well in hand feeling no pressure through the last bend, spurted away from all comers in upper stretch and increased the winning margin at the finish line. THEFT was content to watch the loose leader while settling smartly on the rail, continued to draft behind the pacesetter down the backstretch, picked up the bit shifting out with a quarter mile to run to be in the hunt four wide at the top of the lane, was no match for the winner who had plenty left for the drive but did finish with resolve to get up at the finish line to best the rest for the runners up share. SULTANA kept a close eye on the leader outside in the beginning, hounded the pacesetter outside under a good hold down the back straight, was hard ridden with five sixteenths to go but could not gain on the frontrunner, chased to no avail in upper stretch and just got nosed out in a tight photo for the place share at the wire. SPEAK UP had inside position in the middle of the pack, crept closer by the midpoint of the final turn inside horses, skimmed the fence in upper stretch and won the minor battle in the final sixteenth of a mile to settle on the fringes in the end. SMUDGE broke out on the start, was unhurried trailing into the first turn, made an early move progressing steadily outside rivals three deep down the backside, was in the mix three wide outside the leader at the three furlong pole, could not sustain the lengthy rally five wide in upper stretch and levelled out at the furlong marker. PRINCESS ANASTASIA stalked near the rear on the outside, lagged behind the field at the half, could not get into gear under encouragement in the far turn still seeing the field but did manage to pass weary runners outside by mid-stretch. BOUND TO BE TRUE had an outside trip in midfield, was roused three eighths out offering little response, shifted three wide for the drive to the wire but had little to show in the stretch running. SHADE OF PALE settled on the rail close to the back of the pack in the early parts of the race, came under a ride but had little to offer on the fence around the last oval and had little presence in the two path down the lane.
