Chart notes
BACKONTHECHAINGANG settled near the rear on the rail in the beginning, advanced smartly inside rivals by the half, rallied on the fence in midturn, shifted out at the quarter pole with a full head of steam, pounced three wide at the top of the lane to seize command with a furlong to go and won going away by a good margin at the finish. SPRINGER angled in entering the backstretch while dueling outside in the early stages, battled outside with another foe separating themselves from the next closest competitor around the bend, had no answer for the winner who stormed on by outside at the eighth pole but did dig in stubbornly late to hold for the place share in a photo at the wire. DROGON had a good trip isolated watching the embattled lead duo down the backstretch, could not quicken with the eventual winner inside at the quarter pole but did keep on coming four wide down the stretch gaining on the early lead pair at the furlong marker and just missed getting up outside for the place share at the finish line. TEMPLE HALL was slammed on the outside being knocked off stride leaving the chute, recovered quickly to contest the pace inside along the backstretch, slugged it out well ahead of the rest of the pack dueling on the rail up top through the turn, could not continue on from his early efforts and gave way on the rail in the final furlong. WOODGLEN COURT had a stalking role in the two path between horses down the back straight, was roused at the three eighths pole but was losing ground to the lead foursome around the turn, shifted out four wide at the top of the stretch but could only manage to finish up evenly to the wire posing little threat in the end. PROCEEDWITHCAUTION stalked three deep in the early going, had little impact taking the short way around the bend while scrubbed on for more at the five sixteenths pole and made little presence on the fence in the late running. MIKEY BOY stalked near the rear ahead of only the troubled starter down the backstretch, lost touch to the rest of the field around the bend and could not improve down the lane to factor in the late running. INSTAMATICAL hesitated on the break then when coming out of the stall ducked in sharply to the rail to trail by many along the backside, closed the gap to the closest pursuer around the bend but had little to offer in the stretch drive.RIDERS CLAIM OF FOUL #4 TEMPLE HALL AGAINST #6 SPRINGER SHORTLY AFTER LEAVING THE GATE WAS DISALLOWED
