THE G M tracked out of range off the rail, lugged out at the five-sixteenths pole, angled back down to the two path and improved position. NO MORE DING DONGS raced near the back in the early going, checked past the three-eighths pole, angled to the inside, steered back out into the lane and failed to menace. PASS THE BATON lacked early speed and disliked the kickback, angled to the rail on the turn and failed to menace. PANUCO dropped off the pace early, went three deep into the turn, got forced out at the five-sixteenths pole, chased four wide into the lane and was never a factor. MR. MACHUPICCHU chased the lone speed between rivals, dropped back on the turn, came three wide into the lane and tired.
