KANOJO was off awkwardly at the start, quickly recovered and raced two wide in range around the first turn, stalked outside a rival up the backstretch, roused for more near the quarter pole, responded, advanced to match strides a furlong out then gained the advantage and kept clear under steady encouragement. ESPERANZA'S SPIRIT secured inside position around the first turn and tracked the top pair up the backstretch, continued to save ground around the final turn, slipped through along the rail at the head of the lane, raced in aim for the lead a furlong out, could not kick on with the winner but kept on with good response and finished clearly second best. TAPITURES ACTOR was forwardly placed around the first turn and sat just off the leader up the backstretch, urged two wide approaching the quarter pole, raced near equal terms for the lead a furlong out, weakened of the top pair but ran on for a share. SQUEEZE THE DAY led the way around the first turn, set the pace up the backstretch and around the final turn, ran on past the eighth pole then gave way. DIXIE SURPRISE raced in the back, saved ground and failed to rally.
