Chart notes
PIONEER STORM KING saved ground while setting a comfortable pace, confidently led through the backstretch, responded gamely to a looming challenge from PUTTINGONTHEFOIL, and drew clear under steady encouragement. PUTTINGONTHEFOIL saved ground from just off the rail, loomed boldly near the three-sixteenth then shifted out at the head of the lane, but was unable to reach the winner and finished up clearly second best. WOOD CEILING was four wide entering the opening turn, sat in striking distance through the backstretch, was asked to quicken approaching the quarter pole, and lacked a closing response that was needed. BORDER SONG was five wide through the backstretch, and showed a mild interest late. DANCING PORKY trailed the field early and bid belatedly. WRIT IN STONE saved to no avail. CONCRETE COWBOY rated off the pace while three wide, and tired early. REBOSO raced in closest pursuit under a snug hold, and was done early.
