LYELL'S SONG settled early in the three path, tracked outside a pair of rivals in the middle stages, gained three then four wide on the far turn, challenged three deep in upper stretch, put in a head in front past the eighth pole, drifted in and exchanged bumps with INDISPENSABLE and got outkicked in the end. BRAZENLY settled five wide in the early going, moved closer up the backstretch, ridden along while keep wide through the far turn, entered the lane six wide, took aim at the top trio down the lane but flattened in the last sixteenth. VARNEY sent for the lead, pressured into the backstretch, headed at the quarter pole, lost command in upper stretch, fought to midstretch and weakened. BETTER THAN GOLD tucked inside at the rear, moved off the rail on the backstretch, rounded the far turn three then four wide and passed tired rivals. TRANCHE stalked three wide early, bid three deep between on the second bend, failed to sustain the challenge at the quarter pole, angled in a bit leaving the bend and weakened. CONCORD BRIDGE forwardly placed in the two path, moved up to apply pressure under a hold, weakened on the far turn and tired down the lane. TIZ SECURE stalked from inside, ridden along leaving the backstretch, dropped back on the far turn and tired. MARY'S BOY BOLT rated in the two path, climbed on the backstretch, went three wide into the lane and had little left for the drive. GOLD FOOT dropped off the pace early, climbed on the first turn in the two path, trailed four wide into the lane and came up empty. THERE WAS A STEWARDS' INQUIRY INVOLVING THE STRETCH RUN BETWEEN INDESPENSABLE AND LYELL'S SONG AND RULED THAT THE CONTACT WAS MUTUEL AND THERE WOULD BE NO CHANGE.
