Chart notes
NAUGHTY SQUIDWARD broke well, seized the early lead, then proceeded to dictate very slow fractions through the early stages, quickened away from the rest and put a half-dozen lengths on the rest going into the far turn, maintained the margin into the stretch, and held on comfortably in the lane to win clear. LOOKIN WILD broke well, settled just behind NAUGHTY SQUIDWARD through the first turn, took up the chase down the backstretch when that one slipped away from the rest, lost second position to DOWNTOWN MAN on the far turn, but kept on and regained the place when that rival weakened in the final furlong. DOWNTOWN MAN was slow to begin, then settled at the back despite the slow pace, made a mild rally to move into second position at the top of the stretch, but could not sustain the bid and was passed in mid-stretch and was all-out to hold third. MY LITTLE CAIBO went three-wide on the first turn, then chased the pacesetter still wide down the backstretch, was unable to mount any kind of rally owing to the modest pace and was outkicked in the later stages. WAY OF THE WARRIOR was off slow, lost contact with the field on the backstretch, and was never a factor.
