Chart notes
POCKET VENUS stalked then pressed the leader, took the lead by the quarter, swiftly moved clear and was put to urging in upper stretch, responded by drawing off then was eased up late. PONYTAIL PETE was close early chasing from outside, dropped back and shifted in early on the turn saving some ground nearer the fence, angled out at the top of the stretch coming six wide to mid-stretch, ran on to gain the place while no threat to the winner. PERFECT SMILE was coaxed at the start, quickly made the lead, set the pace inside runners but off the fence, was overtaken leaving the turn, switched out in mid-stretch, could not rally but was best of the rest. LUCKY NEA broke outwardly, chased from inside mid-pack, went evenly and did not threaten. IONIAN GEM lacked early speed despite encouragement, chased from the two to three path into and on the turn, failed to menace. THE PERFECT SPICE broke slowly and was shut off at the start, raced at the back inside into the turn, failed to threaten. SAVEL lacked early speed outside at the rear going two to three wide on the turn, came out wider for the stretch run, was not a factor. LONG LEGGED BABS refused to break. FOLLOWING A STEWARDS' INQUIRY INTO THE START IT WAS DETERMINED ALL RUNNERS RECEIVED A FAIR BEGINNING AND NO ACTION WAS TAKEN.
