Chart notes

SET TO SHINE settled well off the contested early pace while saving ground at the rail through the first turn, began to close in on the pacesetters in the run to the final turn, rallied smartly from along the inside entering the turn, tipped three wide entering the lane to sweep to the lead, and drew clear late. COUNTERACT unhurried early while dropping back to trail, raced two out from the rail in the run down the backside, angled in to commence his bid along the inside entering the final turn, and closed steadily from along the rail in the drive to get up for the place in the final strides. STANFORD BAY broke sharply and vied for the lead from along the rail entering the first turn, set a contested pace from the inside of SOARINGFORTHESUN in the run down the backstretch, got the better of his pace rival leaving the final turn but was quickly overhauled by SET TO SHINE, and just failed to hold the place. BLUEGRASS LENT away well, but was allowed to settle off the dueling leaders while racing one out from the rail entering the backstretch, rallied three wide entering the final turn, but failed to mount a serious late bid when called upon. SOARINGFORTHESUN away alertly and dueled for the lead from the outside of STANFORD BAY entering the first turn, forced the issue two wide from the outside of that rival in the run down the backstretch and through the final turn, was unable to keep tabs on his pace rival leaving the turn, and had nothing left for the drive.
