AMERICAN CAUSE relaxed tempo around the first turn, when VERRAZANOINTHESKY forced the issue nearing the five eighths marker, easily stuck with that rival into the far turn, given the que inside leaving the quarter pole, drew off convincingly through the final furlong. NEW YEAR SURPRISE tracked the top pair three wide into the far turn, called up four deep leaving the furlong marker, no match chased on willingly clear for the place. VERRAZANOINTHESKY bumped back at the start, forced the pace into the second bend, outside rival turning for home chased to the furlong marker, flattened out through the wire. REMEMBER THE FEAR raced well of the pace into the far turn, rail bid into the lane, improved placing, never a threat to the leaders. QUALITY STORM settled off the pace three wide into the far turn, called on two wide leaving the furlong post, came up empty late. PETE'S LEGACY very slow into stride, trailer leaving the quarter pole, weakened stretch. SLAVA UKRAINI slow to stride, towards rear around the second bend, left lead four wide, faltered.
