LE GRIS was hustled from the gate, showed speed on the inside of a rival, was eased back along the rail on the first turn then switched outside the leader to the two path, stalked the pace on the outside, was asked some at the seven-sixteenths pole, took the advantage just inside the three-eighths pole, moved clear outside the quarter-pole, responded well under one tap of a down-turned whip in upper stretch, drew away while flagged with the crop under a solid hand-ride into the final sixteenth and proved much the best. LEFTEMBEHIND broke in and bumped with a foe, was caught in the four path on the first turn, moved in early on the backstretch, settled under some restraint, was roused in the two then three path on the far turn, came out to the five path into upper stretch and finished willingly for the place. TIMAEUS was hustled from the gate, showed speed on the outside of a foe, dropped from the two path to the rail while moving clear early on the first turn showed the way down the backstretch, was asked while inside early on the far turn, lost the advantage to the winner just inside the three-eighths pole and stopped. FIRST OF HIS NAME was bumped at the start then urged early, raced in the three path on the first turn, settled outside in third position, dropped back late on the backstretch, faltered in the four path on the far turn, came out into upper stretch and was eased but walked off.
