Chart notes
POSEIDON STEEL settled in behind the leading trio stalking while inside a foe, came out at the top of the stretch when put to urging, took aim, surged past just inside the sixteenth pole and moved clear. HIGHLAND LIFE was urged from the start, moved forward inside soon taking a narrow lead, set a pressured pace inside but off the rail, came out a bit further turning into upper stretch, kicked clear at that juncture, was overtaken inside the final sixteenth and proved no match for the winner. RAT PORTAGE settled at the rear, saved ground, sought room coming to the quarter pole waiting momentarily then tipping out a path before coming back nearer the rail, rallied mildly inside but needed more. ARMSTRONG had a brief early lead but was soon overtaken, pressed the pace from between runners, was urged while coming into upper stretch four to five wide, kept on evenly late. HANLAN brushed a rival lightly at the start, settled in behind, stalked three to four wide, went evenly. PRICELESS WILL was lightly brushed at the start, switched out and advanced outside foes on the turn moving out from four to six wide looming a threat at the top of the stretch, could not sustain the effort and flattened out. YOUR VALENTINO was urged from the start, chased outside three to five wide, asked for more past the five-sixteenths, faded in the lane.
