Chart notes
CASHIER CHECK rated in mid-pack of the strung out field to the far turn, commenced an extended rally midway on the final bend to circle up five wide turning for home and continued to finish well and be going away late. Q F SEVENTY FIVE reserved off the quick pace near the rear of the field for the first five-eighths, rallied along the iniside nearing the quarter pole, cut the corner saving ground, angled four wide in upperstretch and finished well. MEANT TO BE LUCKY set a fast pace on a clear lead, widened through the far turn and weakened in the final eighth. FRANK'S ART was well place stalking the pacesetter for three-quarters from afar, chased down the lane and ran-on for a minor award. OMIKAMI slow early to be the trailer of the main body of the field and showed some late interest in the lane without impact. PERUVIAN BOY stalked the leaders from four wide down the backside to be well positioned in striking distance on the final bend and faded turning for home. PEMAQUID PETE was unprepared at the start as the assistant starter had just climbed up on the gate with his hand still on his head as the gates opened leaving him unprepared and rearing at the start to be eliminated from the race giving the field too many lengths to overcome. THE STEWARDS POSTED AN INQUIRY INTO THE START AND UPON REVIEW DETERMINED THAT PEMAQUID PETE WAS NOT HELD UP AT THE BREAK AND RECEIVED A FAIR START.
