Chart notes
GRAND ACADEMIC was never far off the pace, rallied into the turn, went six wide entering the stretch, got a head in front near the eighth pole, drew off and was kept to task. PICO D'ORO advanced inside on the turn, bid off the rail, shifted out for the drive and finished well to get up for place. MCLAREN VALE chased the pace, bid willingly to contend, was unable to sustain his bid and held for show. BARON OF THE NILE was void of early speed, had a wide trip, found his best stride late and was gaining ground. SAINT PETER'S BAY saved ground, bid along the rail on the turn, angled out and lacked a late response. JULIA'S WARRIOR failed to threaten in an even effort. BACKFIRE chased the pace, advanced to the turn to loom a threat. CAPTIVATING BOY broke sharply, set the pace, faltered near the eighth pole and dropped back.
