TREATY OBLIGATION bobbled at the break, chased along the inside and then just off the inside coming under coaxing at the seven-sixteenths, took the inside route into upper stretch, rallied up the rail in a bit tight inside of MAGNOLIA MIDNIGHT the innermost of a trio shoulder to shoulder through the stretch to the sixteenth marker, came out under a left handed crop just inside that station forcing MAGNOLIA MIDNIGHT to pause as UNCLECHARLIESGIFT came inwards under a lean of his rider, bumped that foe solidly with seventy yards to the finish taking narrow command and was along in front to the wire. UNCLECHARLIESGIFT got brushed at the break when STOLEN BASE broke outwards, came under coaxing and prompted the leader latched on at times two then three wide coming under coaxing near the quarter pole, spun three wide into upper stretch, dug in under a drive heads apart for command through the stretch, took narrow and slight command just outside the sixteenth marker and had the rider lean inwards a bit and came inwards as the aforementioned foe came out under a left handed crop, got bumped solidly by that rival and briefly paused seventy yards from the finish now displaced from the front, then missed on the wire. MAGNOLIA MIDNIGHT coaxed from the gate, showed the way in hand along the inside, took to the two path midway on the turn opening the rail near the five-sixteenths, had TREATY OBLIGATION move on in to that spot, spun just off the inside into upper stretch, dug in under challenge from flanking rivals, yielded command just outside the sixteenth pole between foes and paused briefly at that station as TREATY OBLIGATION came outwards and UNCLECHARLIESGIFT came slightly inwards making contact with one another directly in front, then weakened in the late stages. STOLEN BASE broke out at the start brushing UNCLECHARLIESGIFT, chased just off the inside until tipped three wide at the seven-sixteenths, came under encouragement three to four wide three furlongs out, continued four wide at the head of the stretch and tired. There was a Stewards' Inquiry into the stretch run as well as a Claim of foul by the rider of UNCLECHARLIESGIFT alleging interference against TREATY OBLIGATION at the sixteenth pole. After review, TREATY OBLIGATION was disqualified from first and placed second having been deemed to have caused interference to UNCLECHARLIESGIFT before the result was declared official.
