Chart notes
SPEED MERCHANT tracked three wide early, moved up to challenge for the lead midway on the turn, came into the stretch between horses two-wide, was kept task under steady handling, and won clear in the end. MARK MY KISS raced four-wide just off the early pace, moved up in tandem with SPEED MERCHANT to bid for the lead near the three-furlong pole, came three-wide at the top of the stretch, may have gained the lead in upper stretch, but started to drift out in mid-stretch and had to settle for second. READS ARTFUL RUN bumped with M G ROJO LOCO at the break but still went quickly to the front about a length clear, fought back under challenge late on the turn, then weakened in mid-stretch but held on for third. MAKEMTREMBLE briefly up close, was under a ride to keep pace, dropped back to mid-pack, and gained fourth with a grinding finish. M G ROJO LOCO mutually bumped with READS ARTFUL RUN at the break, then was slow into stride, moved up under a ride to be mid-pack through the turn, and finished evenly. SNIPER UNIT ducked in after the break, bothering both horses to the inside, ettled inside, struggled to keep pace through the turn, then was mildly gaining in the late stages. SOMBRERO NEGRO broke sharply, tracked five-wide down the backstretch, responded when put to a drive at the seven-sixteenths marker, circled the field on the turn to emerge five-wide into the stretch, then flattened out with a furlong to run. HOLD MY SCOTCH lost the path when SNIPER UNIT came over at the break, got off poorly, chased throughout and showed little. POW NOW got bumped at the start, then lacked any speed and was last down the backstretch, trailed well behind, then managed to pass one in deep stretch long after the issue had been decided up front. NEW MEXICO HEART hustled into the early pace mix, pressed two-wide into the turn, then was hard-ridden to keep up approaching the stretch and had nothing left in the late stages. This race was originally hand timed, and was re-timed using video technology to arrive at the most accurate time.
